A man was killed reportedly being hit by an unidentified vehicle in Dhaka's Jatrabari area early Sunday.
The accident took place at Jonopath intersection under Jatrabari Police Station at around 4.00 am.
The deceased was identified as Zakir Hossain, 30, son of late Abdul Jalil, hailed from Purbadhala upazila of Netrakona district. His family has been living in a rented house at Adamjee area under Narayanganj's Siddhirganj police station.
It was known that a speeding vehicle hit the man from behind when he was crossing a road, leaving him critically injured.
Later, an auto rickshaw driver rescued him and took to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Beli akhter, the deceased's sister, said, "Zakir was disconnected from our family for a long time, he used to live as a vagabond. In the morning, we came to know that he died after being hit by an unidentified vehicle and then we found his body in the hospital."
DMCH Police Camp in-charge Md Bachchu Miah said the body was kept in the hospital morgue and legal actions would be taken in this regard.
