No reason to hold meeting with AL: Manna

There is no reason to hold meeting with Awami League, Nagarik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna has said.

He made the remark at a programme held at National Press Club in Dhaka on Friday marking the golden jubilee of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ).

 

“Awami League now wants to sit with BNP to find a way. Awami League wants to give an advance message that they want to solve everything by holding talks with BNP,” Manna said.

The Nagarik Oikya convener said, “Will they get scope to flee by holding talks like this? Many ministers of the government do not want to sit with BNP because of this reason.

He further said, “We are saying that there is no to hold meeting with you (Awami League). Because we want that you must resign.”

About US’s new visa policy, Manna said leaders and activists of Awami League are worried over the new visa policy of the US.

Mentioning that situation of the country has changed, the Nagarik Oikya convener said, “Police are now giving protection to rallies of opposition parties, otherwise they will not get US visa policy.

Among others, Dhaka city south BNP convener Abdus Salam, former general secretary of National Press Club Ilyas and former president of Dhaka Reporters Unity Ilias Hossain spoke in the programme.

The programme was moderated by BFUJ president M Abdullah.
