Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) candidate Mufti Syed Faizul Karim today said that the ruling party does not have the right to seek votes in Barishal City Corporation election.
"Over the past five years, the government has neglected Barishal in terms of allocation of resources. Therefore, the government and the ruling Awami League cannot legitimately seek votes for their candidate," he said.
He was speaking with reporters during his election campaign in the Kolapatti area of the city.
He further asserted that the government does not seek votes, yet they have unlawfully acquired votes, as witnessed in the previous election.
"They clandestinely tampered with the ballot boxes the night before the election, thereby preventing people from exercising their right to vote," he claimed.
