Nomination form of Bikalpadhara Bangladesh candidate from Munshiganj-1 constituency Mahi B Chowdhury has been declared invalid on the ground of bank loan default.
The nomination papers of two other candidates were also cancelled during the scrutiny. They were Bangladesh Nationalist Movement (BNM) candidate Muhammad Farid Hossain and Awami League`s independent candidate Golam Sarwar Kabir.
Munshiganj deputy commissioner and district returning officer Md Abu Zafar Ripon made the decision on Sunday (December 3) after scrutiny at the DC`s conference room in Munshiganj early Sunday afternoon.
He said Mahi Badruddoza Chowdhury`s candidature was cancelled due to bank loan default.
"Mahi B Chowdhury was the guarantor of loan of a company. The Bangladesh Bank informed that the company was a loan defaulter. The proposer of BNM candidate Muhammad Farid Hossain is not a voter of the constituency concerned, while independent candidate Golam Sarwar Kabir provided a list of voters which contained anomalies," he said, adding that they were advised to appeal to the Election Commission.
Earlier, Mahi B Chowdhury submitted his nomination form to contest in the coming Jatiya Sangsad election to be held on January 7.
The nomination forms of other candidates declared valid in Munshiganj-1 constituency are Awami League`s Mohiuddin Ahmed, Trinamool BNP`s Antara Huda, Jatiya Party`s Sheikh Muhammad Sirajul Islam, Zaker Party`s Ataur Rahman, Bangladesh Khelafat Andolon`s Ataullah Hafezi, Bangladesh Supreme Party`s Latif Sarker, National People`s Party`s Doel Akter and Bangladesh Congress` Noor Jahan Begum.
