Dhaka University student Shahriar Alam Samya was killed during a scuffle with suspected drug dealers after he showed interest in a stun gun (treasure gun) they were carrying, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
According to police, one of the suspects stabbed him with a Swiss gear knife.
However, police have arrested 11 people in connection with the murder of Samya, who was stabbed to death at Suhrawardy Udyan on May 13, said police.
Following the incident members of Shahbagh Police on May 13, night took immediate action and arrested three suspects from different parts of the city who were identified as Tamim Howlader, 30, Samrat Mallik, 28, and Palash Sardar, 30.
Later, Detective Brach of DMP arrested eight more people linked to the murder who were identified as Rabbi alias Kabutar Rabbi, 25, Mehedi Hasan, 25, Nahid Hasan Papel, 21, Md Ripon, 20, Md Sohag, 33, Md Robin, 18, Md Hridoy Islam, 24, and Sujon Sarker, 27.
DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjat Ali and DB Joint Commissioner Mohammad Nasirul Islam shared the details during a press briefing at DMP Media Centre on Tuesday.
