The trip will be the first visit to Delhi by a Bangladeshi minister since the BNP government took office.

The Indian Ocean Conference will be held in Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius, from April 10 to 12. Khalilur is scheduled to attend the event after his stop in India.

Sources said the foreign minister is due to meet India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval on the afternoon of April 7, the first day of the visit.

He is also expected to meet Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on the same day.

Earlier, on November 18 last year, Khalilur visited Delhi in his capacity as national security adviser to attend the Colombo Security Conclave, when he also met Ajit Doval.

After taking charge as foreign minister, he made his first overseas trip to Jeddah on February 24 to attend the OIC foreign ministers’ meeting, before travelling to the United States via Türkiye on March 14.
