A housewife was allegedly beaten to death at Syedpur upazila in Nilphamari district on Wednesday night.
The victim was Priyanka, 17, daughter of Pappu Hossain, a resident of that village.
Police arrested accused husband Bijay, 19, in the incident.
According to the victim`s family, around six months ago, the accused Bijay got married to the girl without informing her family. After marriage, he used to threaten and beat her. On Tuesday, she was admitted to the upazila health complex after she was beaten up by her in-laws.
Later, the teenage girl died there on Wednesday night while undergoing treatment.
After she died, the people of her in-law`s house fled.
Syedpur Police Station officer-in-charge Shah Alam said, "The victim`s husband has been arrested in this regard. I have not received any complaint on behalf of the family yet. The body has been sent to morgue for autopsy."
