An agent of a independent candidate in Noakhali-2 has been hacked to death.
The deceased was Shaheduzzaman alias Polash, 35, son of Md Jamal Uddin of Mirzapur village in Sonaimuri upazila.
Independent candidate of scissor Symbol Md Ataur Rahman said Shaheduzzaman worked as his agent during the election held on January 7. Ataur Rahman failed to win in the election as independent candidate.
According to local sources, neighbours found the blood-stained body of Shaheduzzaman at a open place near his house at night. The body bore injury marks on face and forehead. Later, they informed the police about it.
Sonaimuri police recovered the body around 1am on Sunday.
OC Bakhtiar Uddin Chowdhury said quoting the family, around 8pm, Shaheduzzaman called his wife and said that he was going to a dinner party.
But till 10pm, he did not come back.
