Three ministers submit resignation letters

In the wake of the announcement of 12th Jatiya Sangsad election schedule, technocrat ministers and Prime Minister‍‍`s advisers have resigned.

They submitted their resignation letters at the Cabinet Division on Sunday (November 19). Though the technocrat ministers resigned in 2018, the PM‍‍`s advisers did not resign from their posts.

Sources at the Prime Minister‍‍`s Office and Cabinet Division said the Cabinet Division sent letters to two technocrat ministers, a state minister and seven advisers of the prime minister to submit their resignation letters following the announcement of election schedule. Then they resigned from their posts on Sunday afternoon.

In the cabinet of the present government, the technocrat ministers were Science and Technology minister Yafesh Osman, Posts and Telecommunications minister Mostofa Jabbar and State Minister for Planning Shamsul Alam.

Prime Minister‍‍`s Economic adviser Mashiur Rahman said he submitted his resignation letter. Those who are not the members of parliament among the cabinet and advisory council members, they have been asked to resign.

The Election Commission has announced the schedule of 12th Jatiya Sangsad election on November 15 last. After four days, the technocrat ministers have resigned.

Apart from the prime minister, there are 25 ministers, 19 state ministers and 3 deputy ministers in the cabinet. There are 48 members in the cabinet including the prime minister. With the resignation of three members, the cabinet members have now stood at 45.
