Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus has called on the youth of Bangladesh to step forward with courage and assume leadership roles, asserting that no national problem would remain unresolved if young people remain active and engaged.
He said, “I urge every member of the youth community to contribute to the development of society and the country with your talent, energy, and creativity. Let your success not be limited to personal achievements, but serve as an inspiring example for others. I firmly believe that when the youth are active, no challenge remains unresolved.”
Speaking at the ‘Youth Volunteer Award 2025’ ceremony held at the Chief Adviser’s Office on Monday (Sept 15), Dr Yunus celebrated the energy and promise of the country’s youth, describing them as the driving force of the nation.
He stressed the transformative potential of youth, stating, “Today, we are celebrating the power of youth, which is the engine of our nation. I have strong faith that when a country’s youth is vibrant, enthusiastic, and empowered with innovation, no obstacle can hinder their progress.”
Encouraging young people to go beyond volunteerism, Dr Yunus urged them to position themselves as policymakers, innovators, and architects of change. “This will only be possible when they build confidence, acquire essential skills, and cultivate leadership qualities,” he said.
Addressing the award recipients, the Chief Adviser remarked, “This award is not just a recognition, but a call to action — be bolder, take charge, and bring forward new ideas and innovations for the betterment of society.”
Dr Yunus also highlighted the far-reaching impact of youth initiatives across sectors. “Your active participation can bring about significant positive changes in every aspect of society. A small effort in healthcare can protect thousands of children from disease. A modest initiative in education can elevate the standard of learning across the country. Your collective efforts in environmental protection can ensure a greener, safer world for future generations. Remember, every small step you take paves the way for the nation’s greater achievements.”
He acknowledged the difficulties involved in such efforts, saying, “The path of volunteering or any noble mission is never easy. It demands time, financial resources, and the resilience to withstand mental pressure. It is through these trials that we develop virtues like patience, endurance, and leadership.”
Looking ahead, Dr Yunus said he envisions the youth as “pioneers of new policies, revolutionary ideas, and agents of social transformation.” He expressed confidence that with their united efforts, Bangladesh could emerge as a prosperous, compassionate, and innovation-driven nation on the global stage.
He concluded by recognising the youth`s growing contribution beyond education, particularly in healthcare, environmental preservation, poverty alleviation, and social justice. “It was the youth who led the people’s uprising of 2024. Time and again, they have shaped the course of our history,” he noted.
