U.S. Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen has welcomed US-Bangla Airlines’ decision to expand its fleet with Boeing aircraft, saying the move will further strengthen Bangladesh’s air connectivity with the rest of the world.
The ambassador made the remarks on Wednesday (29 July) while speaking at the “Beyond with Boeing” event organised by US-Bangla Airlines in the capital.
He said, “Pleased to see US-Bangla Airlines chose Boeing aircraft to grow their fleet and Bangladesh’s air connections to the world.”
The ambassador also shared the same message on his social media platforms, reaffirming his support for the airline’s fleet expansion initiative.
According to Ambassador Christensen, the expansion of US-Bangla Airlines’ fleet is more than just a commercial investment. It is expected to play a significant role in strengthening connectivity, trade, tourism, and economic ties between Bangladesh and the rest of the world.
Earlier at the same event, US-Bangla Airlines officially announced that it will add 21 Boeing aircraft to its fleet through an investment of approximately US$1.5 billion. The new fleet will include 15 Boeing 737-8 aircraft and six Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which are scheduled to be inducted into the airline’s fleet in phases by 2027.
