Maritime ports advised to keep Local Cautionary Signal No. 3 hoisted

News Desk

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today advised the country‍‍`s maritime ports to keep Local Cautionary Signal No. 3 hoisted, as squally weather is likely to affect the North Bay and adjoining coastal areas.

In a special weather bulletin issued this morning, the BMD also asked all fishing boats and trawlers operating over the North Bay to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.

According to the bulletin, the well-marked low over northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas has weakened into a low-pressure area and now lies over central Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas. The system is expected to weaken gradually.

However, the BMD said a steep pressure gradient persists over the North Bay and adjoining areas, creating favourable conditions for squally weather over the maritime ports, the North Bay and the country‍‍`s coastal regions.

The meteorological department instructed the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox‍‍`s Bazar, Mongla and Payra to keep Local Cautionary Signal No. 3 (R) Three hoisted.
