The 51st founding anniversary of Bangladesh Krishak League, an associate body of the ruling Awami League, was observed across the country with various programmes on Wednesday.
Marking the anniversary, Krishak League observed various programmes including hoisting of national and party flags in front of AL' central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital at 9.30am and releasing pigeons in the inaugural ceremony, placing of wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bangabandhu Bhaban in city's Dhanmondi Number 32 area at 10am and distributing 'Eid Gift' at Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka around 12pm.
Awami League Presidium Member and Deputy Leader of the Parliament Matia Chowdhury attended the 'Eid-Gift' distribution programme as the chief guest while AL Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim and Agriculture and Cooperative Affairs Secretary Faridunnahar Laili were present there as special guests.
With Krishak League President Samir Chanda in the chair, the programme was conducted by Krishak League General Secretary Umme Kulsum Smrity, MP.
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had founded Bangladesh Krishak League on April 19 in 1972 to protect the rights of farmers and develop the country's agriculture sector.
Since its inception, Krishak League has been playing a glorious role in organizing farmers, realising their rights and in all democratic movements.
