Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman will address two election rallies in Faridpur today (February 6) as part of the party’s campaign for the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman is scheduled to speak first at a rally at Boalmari Stadium in Faridpur-1 constituency, covering Boalmari, Madhukhali and Alfadanga, in the evening after attending a programme in Narail.
Later, he will address another rally at Rajendra College ground in Faridpur-3 (Sadar) constituency at 8:00pm as the chief guest, party leaders said at a press conference held today at the Faridpur district Jamaat office near Chawk Bazar Jame Mosque.
Rally committee convener Imtiaz Uddin Ahmed said all-out preparations have been completed to ensure the programmes run smoothly, adding that the Ameer’s visit has created widespread enthusiasm among party activists and supporters of the 11-party alliance.
Faridpur district Jamaat Secretary Prof. Abdul Wahab said volunteer teams, alongside law enforcement agencies, will remain deployed to maintain security during the rallies.
Meanwhile, Jamaat district Ameer Maulana Badruddin said the visit has heightened local expectations regarding key development demands, including granting divisional status to Faridpur, establishing a full-fledged university and a cantonment, and modernising Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
Leaders of Faridpur district Jamaat, Faridpur Press Club General Secretary Mahabub Hossain Pial, and journalists from print and electronic media were present at the press briefing.
