Israeli strikes across Gaza on Sunday left at least 51 people dead, including 27 in Gaza City, according to local authorities. Among those killed were 24 people who had been seeking aid.

The Israeli military intensified attacks on the Zeitoun and Sabra neighbourhoods of Gaza City, as it pressed ahead with operations aimed at seizing the city and forcing civilians further south.

Philippe Lazzarini, head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), warned that famine was now the “last calamity” striking Gaza, describing the situation as “hell in all shapes.”

Meanwhile, in Yemen, Houthi officials reported that Israeli strikes on the capital, Sanaa, killed at least six people and wounded 86 others. The attacks reportedly targeted the presidential palace as well as key energy facilities.

Since the war began, Israeli assaults have killed at least 62,622 people and wounded 157,673 in Gaza, according to health officials there. In Israel, 1,139 people were killed during Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023, with more than 200 others taken captive.
