Jatiya Party‍‍`s (JaPa) chief patron Raushan Ershad has suddenly convened a meeting with the party leaders and workers at the grassroots level.

The meeting has been called at 11.30am on Sunday (January 28) at Raushan Ershad‍‍`s Gulshan residence in the capital. Leader of the Opposition‍‍`s political secretary Golam Masih confirmed it.

Raushan Ershad has convened the meeting at a time when a section of the party leaders and workers are blaming JaPa chairman GM Quader and secretary general Mujibul Huq Chunnu for the party‍‍`s debacle in the 12th parliamentary election. They have been agitating against the JaPa chairman and secretary general since the day when the newly-elected JaPa MPs took oath. Finally, 671 leaders and workers of 10 thanas under the Dhaka City North resigned from the party on Thursday (January 25) raising various allegations against the two senior leaders of the party. Rumours have been surfaced that the resigned and expelled leaders of the party have been trying to get united under the leadership of Raushan Ershad.

Contacted, JaPa‍‍`s Dhaka City North convener Shafiqul Islam Sentu who was relieved of the party‍‍`s presidium member post, has confirmed about attending the meeting convened by Raushan Ershad. JaPa‍‍`s 671 leaders and workers resigned under the supervision of Shafiqul Islam Sentu.

Sentu said, "We will attend the meeting convened by Madam. Let‍‍`s see what directives she want to give us."
