The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has imposed a visa ban on citizens from nine countries, including Bangladesh. Individuals from these countries seeking to enter the UAE for work, tourism, or business purposes will fall under this restriction. The new directive will take effect from January 2026.
According to UAE Visa Online, the countries affected by the ban are: Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Sudan, and Uganda.
Obtaining a visa is essential for foreign nationals who wish to travel, work, or conduct business in the UAE. While most applicants typically apply for tourist or work visas, the UAE has now placed restrictions on several countries. This means that until further notice, citizens of these nine countries will not be able to apply for visas for labor, tourism, or business purposes.
Why Has the UAE Imposed the Visa Ban on These Countries?
The UAE government has not officially provided detailed reasons for the ban. However, various sources suggest several possible factors:
- Security Concerns: To protect UAE citizens from potential threats such as terrorism or illegal activities.
- Geopolitical Tensions: Diplomatic strains between Gulf countries and the affected nations.
- COVID-19 Measures: To control infection rates and enforce strict entry policies.
This restriction is believed to be temporary and will be reviewed based on ongoing security and public health assessments by the UAE government. Importantly, those who are already residing in the UAE with valid visas are not affected by this new ban.
