According to the US State Department, Russian and US officials have a good understanding of each other's concerns. At the same time, the Department threatened Moscow with economic sanctions. Russia would have to pay a price if it launches a military invasion against Ukraine.
At the end of the meeting, Wendy Sherman said, "We believe that progress will be made if Russia is at the negotiating table and they take strong action to defuse tensions." But the United States and its allies are ready to take the necessary action if Russia invades. "
"Obviously Russia has to pay the price, economic sanctions will be one of them," she said. As a result, Russia's financial institutions and export industry will suffer. In addition, NATO's military presence in Russia's allied countries' border will increase and necessary assistance will be provided for Ukraine's security.
